I’ve been browsing a lot of webcomics lately and there’s been a few stand out ones that I’ve come across and wanted to share
- My Sister The Freak by Dani Jones (it doesn’t start until March but geez, it’s going to be nice)
- Cleopatra In Spaaace! – By Mike Maihack (all of Mike’s work is stunning, do yourself a favour and look around his site)
- Red’s Planet – by Eddie Pittman (again, just gorgeous work Eddie is an incredible draftsman)
The other thing getting everyone all abuzz is the iPad – personally I’m pro iPad, I think it’s going to do gangbusters. Is it a ‘game changer’? Sure it is, look at it – it’s an appliance you’ll end up owning. Don’t bullshit around with me and tell you ‘don’t want one because my laptop can do this’ you’ll f**king buy one. You know you will! 40 million+ people didn’t know they needed an iPhone but they own one now. I think Erik Larsen looks at this really well from a comics POV, and personally I think this is going to really kick start how we read everything, from books to newspaper. And no, it doesn’t support flash
Here’s a good iPad article, really anything you grab from Daring Fireball is quality though.

first of all i’m pro-iPad. however I’m one of those guys who doesn’t want one now. But i think I don’t want one in the same way i don’t want a Hummer. I think having my own tank would be fucking awesome but not for $100,000. For me it’s all about cost vs benefits.
I think the difference between the iPad the iPhone is that it’s almost free to get one, you can walk into a store and sign up for a plan you DO need and they’ll add an iPhone in so even though you are paying for it you don’t feel as if you are. The iPad purchase is a different experience. Even though it is only $500-600 it still is a decent amount of cash to hand over.
I think a closer analogy would be the purchase of a second gaming console. My xBox plays the games I want, does the Wii offer enough points of difference to make me want to shell out my discretionary cash? Yes I’d love to play with an iPad but for me does it do ENOUGH that I want to spend what is a downpayment on my next art tablet.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m pro-pad. I just think that the iPad will have a far slower growth that the 200,000 a day iPhones sold. However by version 2 I reckon there will be enough extra value that i’ll be eagerly counting my coins for the technology.
Really good finds on the webcomics. Especially like the my sister the Freak…looks really cool.
